Worship

When we enter into worship, we come into God’s presence as the full people that we are, knowing that within God’s plan, we are loved, cherished and claimed by the One who is our Creator. We worship to give thanks for this love, to be sustained and nourished by it, and to be strengthened and encouraged to share that love with others, through lives of faithful service.

Our worship services are approximately one hour in length and include prayer, scripture reading, choir music, congregational singing, children’s moments, a pastoral message, and the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, as they are scheduled. A worship bulletin will be given to you as you enter that will help guide you through the service. The United Methodist Hymnal and a smaller hymnal supplement, The Faith We Sing, are located in the pew racks for congregational use.

Children are always welcome during worship. Often, our children enter worship with their parents, stay through the “Message for Young Christians” and then leave for a Sunday School lesson. However, as children and their parents first begin attending a new church, they often wish to remain together in worship for the full hour. This is always appropriate, and we encourage families to make the choices that are best for them. This is a “child-friendly” congregation and the presence of children among us is an important part of who we are.

Our 9:30 a.m. worship experience often includes the participation of our children’s choirs and the leadership of our Chamber Choir. Our larger, Chancel Choir usually sings at the 11:00 a.m. service. While many families with children attend 11:00, currently the 9:30 service and Church School hour has the largest number of families with young children. Young people help to lead worship at the 9:30 service as liturgists, while adults fill this role at 11:00.

Our regular worship times are Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 11:00 a.m., Labor Day to Memorial Day, and Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m., during the summer months.
