Kick Off Sunday!

September 12th 10am

September 12th is Okemos Community Churc h “kick-off” for our fall program year.  We will worship together at 10:00 a.m., with a rededication of ourselves to our working together as the Body of Christ in this place, at this time.  We will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion, to which all are invited to share.  Our Sunday School teachers will be ready to welcome children and youth into a new season of learning and growing.  Rev. Randels will be preaching on the role of forgiveness within the family of faith.  Following worship, we are all invited to share in a picnic-style lunch hosted by the Membership Committee.  Our worship times will shift back to 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 19th


August Mission Bucket

Okemos Community Church ’s August Mission Buckets gifts will support the Love Clothing Center for School Age Children, which is affiliated with Christian Services. The Love Clothing Center opened in 1989, to help the growing number of school age children needing good clothing. The Center is staffed entirely by volunteers at Judson Memorial Baptist Church has served 26,000 in 21 years.

How can you help? The Center accepts cash and donations of new clothing ans clean gently warn used clothing. Items especially needed are socks(new), under ware (new),  pants and shirts in sizes 4through 16. If you wish to volunteer at the center please call them directly at 882-5961


Rummage Presort Begins

September 15, 9am

Okemos Community Church Women has scheduled the Fall Rummage Presort to begins on Wednesday September 15beginning at 9am and presorts have be scheduled every Wednesday until the sale.  We will begin receiving Rummage Monday September 12. We are requesting at this time that you gather and hold your items until September 12th. Please place rummage inside the lower level door. If the lower level door is locked please call the Church office at 349-4220 and we will open it for you. Fall Attic Treasure & Rummage Sale will be on October 22 & 23. If you would like to help please attend the Organizational Meeting on Tuesday September 14 at 2pm in the social hall.


Mission Trip-Jeremy, Haiti

October 12-20

Okemos Community Church is planning a Mission Trip October 12 through October 20 to Jeremy, Haiti. Work will be done on 3 classrooms . Please contact the Church office for more information 517-449-4220


Rummage Organizational Meeting

September 14th 2pm

An organizational meeting for all who wish to help with the Okemos Community Church Rumage Sale will be held on Tuesday September 14 at 2pm in the social hall.


Vacation Bible School

Aug 9-12 dinner5:15 activities5:45 -8 pm

OCC Vacation Bible School“BAOBAB BLAST”  for  pre-school through 5th grade,will take place August 9 through August 12th. VBS activities will begin with supper 5:15-5:45 pm(Kid friendly meals) for participants and volunteers and the VBS activities  5:45-8:00pm.  We are in need of volunteers! You can help even if you will be away during August. Please let Stephanie or the Okemos Community Church office know how much time you can dedicate and we will find a job for you!

Please join us and travel to “Africa” -  Plans are underway for : supper, Bible verses, stories, songs, art & craft projects, games, laughter, and prayer . We will end out week Thusday 12th at 7:45  with singing and closing activities and a Ice cream social!


July Mission Bucket

Okemos Community Church July Mission Buckets are accepting donations for Grace Children’s Hospital in Haiti. It was heavily damaged in the hurricane and needs much in the way of  capital improvements to make it useable again. Thank you for your caring support.


Church Picnic – Youth News

July 4, 11:15 am

 The Okemos Community Church Youth Fellowship will have some big events in June, July and August. The following events are open to all youth, both middle school and high school.  New sixth graders are welcome.  Remember, you are always welcome to invite your friends to any event.  Be sure to check your e-mail through the summer for up-to-date information about other youth activities. 

July 4, Sunday, help with the picnic after worship.  This is a fund-raiser for the Spring Break Work Project.

July 11, Sunday, meet at the church to leave for an afternoon canoe trip on the Grand River. (Time TBA) We will drive to Burchfield Park to begin our adventure. Look at your e-mail to get up-to-date information about cost and travel time. 

July 27, Tuesday, meet at the church at 6:30 a.m. to go to CEDAR POINT.  Make reservations with Jen or Paul by Friday, July 23.  Yes, this means we may not have space for you if you just show up onTuesday. 

Please be thoughtful and plan ahead so that your leaderscan be prepared.We will schedule some other events in August.  Be sure to check your e-mail for the latest on up-coming events. For more information about these or any other youth activities, contact the church office. (349-4220)


June Mission Bucket

The Midwest Mission Distribution Center (MMDC) is the recipient of the Mission Buckets for June here at Okemos Community Church. MMDC is an organization under the jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church, located in Chatham, IL, helping people in need locally, nationally, and around the world by sorting, warehousing and distributing donated materials, running workshop projects to make school room desk and various kits. These disaster relief materials, humanitarian aid, medical, and educational goods are shipped to many states and countries with the help of volunteers and donations from the Midwest area.  See also June Mission Project


Food Bank

May Shopping List

Okemos Community Church Food Pantry Shopping List for May is as follows:

Pancake and Corn Muffin Mix, Condiments (Mustard, etc), Canned Fruit, Canned Vegetables (Green Beans etc), Salsa, Salad Dressing, Canned Meats (Stew, Chili, etc)

Our pantry is part of both the Greater Michigan Food Bank and the Mid Michigan ( Pantry B-0-00448-30). Food and Monetary donations accepted any time. Please make checks payable to Okemos Community Church and note food bank  on your check. 

If you are in need of food, please call the Ingham County Health Department Food Bank hot line at 887-4357 for a referral.
