September 12th is Okemos Community Churc h “kick-off” for our fall program year. We will worship together at 10:00 a.m., with a rededication of ourselves to our working together as the Body of Christ in this place, at this time. We will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion, to which all are invited to share. Our Sunday School teachers will be ready to welcome children and youth into a new season of learning and growing. Rev. Randels will be preaching on the role of forgiveness within the family of faith. Following worship, we are all invited to share in a picnic-style lunch hosted by the Membership Committee. Our worship times will shift back to 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 19th

Okemos Community Church ’s August Mission Buckets gifts will support the Love Clothing Center for School Age Children, which is affiliated with Christian Services. The Love Clothing Center opened in 1989, to help the growing number of school age children needing good clothing. The Center is staffed entirely by volunteers at Judson Memorial Baptist Church has served 26,000 in 21 years.
How can you help? The Center accepts cash and donations of new clothing ans clean gently warn used clothing. Items especially needed are socks(new), under ware (new), pants and shirts in sizes 4through 16. If you wish to volunteer at the center please call them directly at 882-5961
Rummage Presort Begins
September 15, 9am
Okemos Community Church Women has scheduled the Fall Rummage Presort to begins on Wednesday September 15beginning at 9am and presorts have be scheduled every Wednesday until the sale. We will begin receiving Rummage Monday September 12. We are requesting at this time that you gather and hold your items until September 12th. Please place rummage inside the lower level door. If the lower level door is locked please call the Church office at 349-4220 and we will open it for you. Fall Attic Treasure & Rummage Sale will be on October 22 & 23. If you would like to help please attend the Organizational Meeting on Tuesday September 14 at 2pm in the social hall.
Fall Tea
September 19th, 3pm
Please place on your calender the Okemos Community Women’s Fall Tea which is schedualed for Sunday September 19th from 2 until 4:30 pm in the social hall. The program will be Sweet Life Cafe. Please bring a friend. Please call the Church office 349-4220 to RSVP by September 16th.
Mission Trip-Jeremy, Haiti

Rummage Organizational Meeting

Summer Worship Time
May 30 - September 12, 10am
Okemos Community Church has begun Summer Worship time on Sunday May 30. Please stay for coffee and become better acquainted with those who have been worshiping at a different time than you. Church School is provided for preschool through 5th grade. Our nursery will also be staffed. We will resume the 9:30 and 11:00am schedule on Sunday, September 19th. Remember, our sanctuary is now air-conditioned!
Youth News
August 29, 12:15 (noon)
Okemos Community Church is sponsoring a picnic at Wanch Park for youth (Middle School and HighSchool) and their parents (or guardians) on Sunday August 29th starting at 12:15. The park is located on the West side of Okemos Road just North of Mount Hope Road. The Church will be providing hot dogs and hamburgers. Please bring a dish to pass. Middle School families – side dish (chips, fruit, veggies, salad etc) and High School Families – dessert. We are planning to eat at 12:30. Please join us as we share plans & ideas for the upcoming school year. We need to hear your ideas, suggestions and expectations. To help with planning please let Jen, Paul or the Church office know if you plan to attend. We encourage you to bring your friends/guests.
Youth News
August 22, 4-6 pm
The Okemos Community Church Youth and Leaders will be meeting on Sunday, August 22 from 4-6 pm in the Youth Room. We will spend the first 45minutes or so cleaning/organizing the youth room and getting set up for fall. We will also be returning the pop cans to Meijer. This will be a good time to bring in your saved cans from home! The second hour we will play board games and just catch-up on what everyone has been doing. Our youth group is open to anyone entering 6th grade and older. (Our College age youth would be welcome to join us.) VBS Volunteer Meeting
August 4th, 7-8:30pm
Okemos community Vacation Bible School -Baobab Blast -Volunteer Meeting will be held Wednesday August 4th from 7pm to 8:30 pm (& dessert!) . If you have formally signed up to volunteer, been a past volunteer, or I have talked with you but you are checking your calendar… This invitation is for YOU!
Youth and Adults, please attend! Overview of schedule, time for volunteers to ask questions/meet each other, view prototypes of crafts/learn about science activities, leaders will meet with Stephanie… Childcare available.
Leaders, your guides and instructions will be available starting July 25th at the 10:00am service and Tues-Fri 9am-noon in the Church office.If you are leader and unable to attend the August 4th meeting, please contact me and we can arrange to meet another time (about 30 minutes).
If you are a team member, we should still meet or talk by phone if you have any questions. My goal is to have everyone comfortable and informed, so we can be ready on Monday, August 9th, 5:00 pm.
