Okemos community Vacation Bible School -Baobab Blast  -Volunteer Meeting will be held Wednesday August 4th from 7pm to 8:30 pm (&  dessert!) .  If you have formally signed up to volunteer, been a past volunteer, or I have talked with you but you are checking your calendar… This invitation is for YOU!

Youth and Adults, please attend! Overview of schedule, time for volunteers to ask questions/meet each other, view prototypes of crafts/learn about science activities, leaders will meet with Stephanie…  Childcare available.

 Leaders, your guides and instructions will be available starting July 25th at the 10:00am service and Tues-Fri 9am-noon in the Church office.If you are leader and unable to attend the August 4^th meeting, please contact me and we can arrange to meet another time (about 30 minutes). 

 If you are a team member, we should still meet or talk by phone if you have any questions. My goal is to have everyone comfortable and informed, so we can be ready on Monday, August 9th, 5:00 pm.    Thank you for your time and dedication!!  Stephanie Sheffer

OCC Vacation Bible School“BAOBAB BLAST”  for  pre-school through 5th grade,will take place August 9 through August 12th. VBS activities will begin with supper 5:15-5:45 pm(Kid friendly meals) for participants and volunteers and the VBS activities  5:45-8:00pm.  We are in need of volunteers! You can help even if you will be away during August. Please let Stephanie or the Okemos Community Church office know how much time you can dedicate and we will find a job for you!

Please join us and travel to “Africa” -  Plans are underway for : supper, Bible verses, stories, songs, art & craft projects, games, laughter, and prayer . We will end out week Thusday 12th at 7:45  with singing and closing activities and a Ice cream social!

 The Okemos Community Church Youth Fellowship will have some big events in July and August. The following events are open to all youth, both middle school and high school.  New sixth graders are welcome.  Remember, you are always welcome to invite your friends to any event.  Be sure to check your e-mail through the summer for up-to-date information about other youth activities. 

July 27, Tuesday, meet at the church at 6:30 a.m. to go to CEDAR POINT.  Make reservations with Jen or Paul by Friday, July 23.  Yes, this means we may not have space for you if you just show up onTuesday.

On Tuesday July 27th an evening of art song will be provided by our wonderful section leader Jenny Cook in collaboration with Elisabeth Ellis at the piano. The pieces will be preceded by demonstrations and a lecture by Alan Nathan

On Tuesday August 3 Our final presentation, we present a joint voice masterclass on vocal basics with Metropolitan Opera soprano Molly Fillmore and our music direction, Alan Nathan. Essential basics of singing are explained in a clear, non-technical way, and we will be joined by a pair of young singers who will demonstrate for us.

Okemos Community Church has begun Summer Worship time on Sunday May 30. Please stay for coffee and become better acquainted with those who have been worshiping at a different time than you. Church School is provided for preschool through 5th grade. Our nursery will also be staffed. We will resume the 9:30 and 11:00am schedule on Sunday, September 19th. Remember, our sanctuary is now air-conditioned!

Okemos Community Church Women has scheduled the Fall Rummage Presort begins on Wednesday September 15 beginning at 9am. The date has not been set to start receiving rummage. We are requesting at this time that you gather and hold your items until we announce open drop off.

Okemos Community Church July Mission Buckets are accepting donations for Grace Children’s Hospital in Haiti. It was heavily damaged in the hurricane and needs much in the way of  capital improvements to make it useable again. Thank you for your caring support.

On Tuesday, July 6th we will enjoy an evening of classical vocal music sung by Youjin Na, with Alan Nathan providing detailed information on the music and text. The program will include music of Bellini, Debussy, Poulenc, religious songs by Hugo Wolf and an aria by Puccini.
