The Okemos Community Church Youth activities for May will involve a few off-site experiences. May’s activities are open to both middle and high school youth. Please note the different times and locations. As usual, you may bring a friend to any event. Wed. May 1, at 6:30 pm, the Spring Break Work Project team will share pictures and stories from our recent trip to East Tennessee. Sat. May 4, at 10 am All Youth will meet at the church to go on a bike ride around the five mile loop in Okemos. Please bring your helmets & bike. Sat. May 11, 9-11am, meet at the church for Mother’s Day gift making and preparations for the food we will serve Sunday in honor of our Mothers! Sun. May 12, we will serve the special treats (made on Sat. May 11th.) in honor of our Mothers after the 9:30 and 11 am services There will be no Youth Fellowship gathering this afternoon. Fri.-Mon. May 24-27, the church will hold our Family Camp Weekend at the Lake Michigan Camp near Pentwater. This is a great experience with lots of people. Several young people have participated in the past. May 1st will mark the end of the 20th season of Wednesday Night Alive. We have had excellent meals prepared by Linda Omura and great fellowship around the table. Be sure to make a reservation for dinner at this last event by calling the Okemos Community Church Office at517-349-4220. This is one event you won’t want to miss. May 1 – Our Young People will share some pictures and stories from their recent spring break work project in Sunset Gap, Tennessee. Menu: Michigan Pasties, Chicken a la King, Salad and Strawberry Shortcake.
Book Club
May 21st 7pm
The Okemos Community Church Book Club will be meeting next on Tuesday, May 21st, at 7 pm, in the Lounge, to discuss: Christianity After Religion, by Diana Bass. Bass, one of contemporary Christianity’s leading trend-spotters, exposes how the failings of the church today are giving rise to a new “spiritual but not religious” movement. Anyone who likes to read and talk about books is invited to attend.
Lugnuts Baseball

Okemos Community Church ‘s annual outing to a Lugnuts baseball game will take place Friday, June 28th, at 7pm There will be fireworks after the game, and maybe batting fireworks during the game. We must have paid reservations by Sunday, June 9th. Tickets are $10.00 each for box seats (the ones with a back).
